# Custom Fields

### What are custom fields?

Custom fields are one way to configure infoodle to suit your organisation. They can be used for storing data against people, households, organisations, and groups.

**Some examples of how you can use custom fields are:**

- What **role** does a person have? Are they a Member, Donor, Staff, or Volunteer?
- Do you need to record how they **contacted** your organisation? Was it through your website, a referral, a phone call, or an email?
- Do you want to record a particular **date**? For example, initial contact, expiry date, membership date, follow up dates, etc.
- Or Diabetes Type, Blood Type, Education Level, and many many more.

### Where to edit custom fields?
