# How to Edit and Delete Custom Fields

## How to Edit a Custom Field
The instructions below are the same for Person, Household, and Group Custom Fields.

1. Click on the **administration cog**
2. Then click on **Custom Fields**
3. Click on **Manage Fields** under the area you are wanting to edit the custom field from
4. Then click **Edit** next to the field you want to edit
5. Go through the options (see details on these fields on the [how to add a custom field](/v1/docs/how-to-add-a-custom-field) page)
6. Finally click **Save**

Once a field has been created and has data stored in it, the **type of field** can no longer be changed.

## How to Delete a Custom Field
The instructions below are the same for Person, Household, and Group Custom Fields.

1. Click on the **administration cog**
2. Then click on **Custom Fields**
3. Click on **Manage Fields** under the area you are wanting to edit the custom field from
4. Then click **Delete** next to the field you want to edit
6. Finally click **Ok** on the pop up box
