Issuing Joint Receipts

Article summary

Infoodle stores individuals details and when you enter transactions you assign them to an individual. You can then choose to generate a receipt either to the individual or in the Household (or Organisations) name. This is all fine until there are multiple people in the household and they wish the receipt to be generated in each of their names. Infoodle uses using Giving Numbers to combine (or split) receipts between people. The infoodle giving numbers tells infoodle which contacts to join or separate.

There are few steps to ensure that you are able to issue joint receipts:

  1. Make sure that the individuals are combined within a household by their Giving Number. That is, they need to share a Giving Number.

  2. Make sure that each individual's profile has a similar marital status e.g. Married.

  3. In each individual profile, set the Receipt to field to Individual.

  4. Use a personalisation in the receipt template to combine the names of the individuals eg {combined name} or {salutation}. For examples of how some personalisations display so that you can work out which one is best for you see Receipt Template Examples.

Now you are ready to search for the transaction to receipt and generate a receipt.

Note

Go to Who's name will it generate receipts under for more information.

If you have already issued the receipt incorrectly under one individual's name then you will need to delete the current incorrect receipt and re-receipt after editing the transaction. Click here for the steps to rectify this.
