You can find all people who have not donated since a specific date, then add them to a group for follow-up, outreach campaigns, or relationship management. This is useful for identifying lapsed donors or targeting re-engagement efforts.
Creating a Report
- Select Reports from the main menu
- Under Report areas, select People
- Click Add finance criteria
- Select No transactions
- Set the date options:
- Choose later than to find people with no donations after a specific date (e.g., January 1, 2023)
- Or choose earlier than to find people with no donations before a specific date
- Enter your date

- Click Select fields and choose which contact information to display (name, email, phone, etc.)

- Click Generate results

Viewing Your Results
Your report will display a list of contacts who match your criteria (no donations since your chosen date).
- To view on screen, click Show.
- To download as Excel or CSV for your records, click Export to Excel or Export to CSV (see Exporting a Report).
Adding Results to a Group
To add these contacts to a group for follow-up (for example, to send them an email or invite them to a giving campaign):
- Click Choose a group to add the results to
- Either:
- Use an existing group — select the group from the dropdown
- Create a new group — enter a name for a new group (e.g., "Lapsed Donors 2024")
- Set the group permission to apply to all contacts
- Click Save
The contacts will be added to the group with the selected permission level.
Alternative: Find by Total Transaction Count
If you want to find people based on how many times they've given (rather than when they last gave), use the Total Transactions criteria instead:
- Follow the steps above, but in step 4 select Total Transactions
- Choose an option:
- Greater than — find people who have given more than X times
- Less than — find people who have given fewer than X times
- Equals — find people who have given exactly X times
- Enter the number (e.g., 1 for single-gift donors, 5 for regular donors)
- Click Generate results
Use Cases
- Re-engagement campaigns — find donors who gave more than 2 years ago and send them a thank-you and update on your impact
- Lapsed donor outreach — identify people who gave regularly but have stopped, and reach out personally
- Giving milestones — find single-gift donors and invite them to become recurring supporters
- Stewardship — create a group of donors by recency and manage relationships accordingly
