# New or Lost Device - Transfer Two Factor Authentication (2FA) Codes

If you are using a Cell Phone or other mobile device such as an iPad or Tablet to access your Two Factor Authentication codes, then these codes are in most cases tied to that Device and your Authenticator App Account (depending on which app you are using).

If you lose access to this device, or if you get a new phone or device, then you may be required to Recover or Transfer your Two Factor Authentication (2FA) Codes on the new device. When Possible, this should be done before the old device has been factory reset, as it may not be possible if the old device has been reset.

          **Note**

If you no longer have access to your old device, or are unable to transfer or restore your codes, then one of the Administrator Users on your site will be able to assist. See **[Remove Two Factor Authentication for another user](https://help.infoodle.com/docs/remove-two-factor-authentication-2fa-from-a-user#remove-two-factor-authentication-for-another-user)** for more information.

#### Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator codes are typically either specific to the App within the device, or may be linked to your Google Account, if you are signed in with this.

Authy Authenticator Codes are tpically linked to an Authy account that was set up when you first installed the app on your device, commonly this is tied to a Phone Number. Authy also has a **Multi-Device** functionality, that may or may not be active.
