# What is Zapier

[Zapier](https://zapier.com/) is a product - external to infoodle - that enables you to automate tasks that connect thousands of products to infoodle without any technical knowledge. Zapier is a paid for service that is charged directly to you on a monthly basis dependent on the number of tasks that you perform. There is a free plan but to get the best out of it you will need a paid plan, for instance; usually a Zap (a single automation) requires more than 2 steps - and that requires a paid plan. See [their pricing page](https://zapier.com/pricing) for more information.

**Why would I use Zapier** Many organisations use a variety of software solutions to be able to solve their administrative needs. These are often online and many of them have integrations with Zapier. The more you can maintain a single source of truth for your data the better your outcomes will be. Software vendors like infoodle can build and maintain specific integrations to a few systems, but using tools like Zapier mean that you can connected over 9,000 applications.

**Example usage** Some examples you to get you thinkining:

1. When a person is added to your Humantix event, add them to infoodle
2. When an email is received in my gmail account, summarise it with AI and add a note to my record in infoodle
3. When a new donation appears in Raisely, add that to infoodle

The example below will keep checking a google sheet. When its changed by you or some other task it will pick up the details and pass to infoodle to add a new person. This example is a 2 step task.
