Converting an Organisation to a Person Contact or Vice Versa

Prev Next

In infoodle, a contact can be stored as either a Person (an individual with a first name and last name) or an Organisation (a company, charity, or other entity with an organisation name). If a contact was added incorrectly, or their circumstances have changed, you can convert between the two types directly from their profile page.

Converting a contact preserves all existing data — groups, notes, finance records, and other information — and simply updates the contact type and name fields.

Before You Begin

  • You must have edit permission for the contact you want to convert.
  • The Convert to an organisation contact option is only available on a Person contact that does not already have an organisation contact in the same household. Each household can only have one organisation contact.
  • The Convert to a person contact option is only available on an Organisation contact.
  • Users with directory-only view access cannot convert contacts.

How to Convert a Person to an Organisation Contact

  1. Search for and open the person's profile page.
  2. Click the settings cog (⚙️) alongside the contact's name at the top of the page.
  3. Select Convert to an organisation contact from the menu.
  4. A prompt will appear asking you to enter an Organisation name — this will become the name of the contact and the household name.
  5. Enter the organisation name and click Save.

The contact will now appear as an Organisation in infoodle.
