Your infoodle dashboard is built from widgets that show the parts of your site you use most: upcoming birthdays, recent notes, your to-do list, your calendar, finance summaries, and more. Each widget has its own settings, and you can rearrange the widgets so the ones you check first sit where your eye lands first.
This article covers how to change a widget's settings and how to move a widget to a new place on the dashboard. Each person on your infoodle site has their own dashboard, so the changes you make here only affect what you see when you log in.

Before you start
Anyone with a login sees their own dashboard. Editing and rearranging widgets is controlled by a role setting rather than a named role permission, so there is no specific role permission to grant for this.
You will need permission to edit your dashboard. Most roles allow this by default. If you do not see the pencil edit icon or the X remove icon on your widgets, your administrator has locked your dashboard layout for your role. Contact your administrator if you would like that changed.
If you are the administrator, you can change this for a role by going to Settings, opening Roles, choosing the role you want to update, and switching on the dashboard editing setting. For the full list of role permissions and what each one does, see People role permissions.
Move a widget to a new place
You move a widget by dragging it. The top strip of the widget, where the title is, acts as the drag handle.

- Click and hold on the top strip of the widget you want to move.
- Drag the widget to its new place. You can drop it above or below another widget in the same column, or drag it across into the other column. A dotted outline shows where the widget will land when you let go.
- Release the mouse button to drop the widget. infoodle saves the new layout straight away, so you do not need to click a save button.
The next time you log in, the dashboard remembers the layout you set.
Edit a widget's settings
Each widget has its own settings panel. The settings cover things like how many days a widget looks ahead, how tall the widget should be, or which group of people to include.
- Find the widget you want to change.
- Click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the widget header. The settings panel slides open under the title.

- Change the settings you want.
- Click Save at the bottom of the panel. The widget refreshes with the new settings and the panel closes.
If you change your mind before clicking Save, click the pencil icon a second time to close the panel without applying changes.
What settings each widget offers
The settings panel only shows the options that apply to that widget. A few examples from the standard widgets:
- Birthdays: how many days ahead to look, how tall the widget should be, and which group of people to limit the list to.

- Latest notes: how many recent notes to show, and whose notes to include.

- Finance: which finance summaries to display, including the transactions graph, batches waiting to be reconciled, Xero contacts to match, and Xero tracking categories to match.

- Calendar: whether to show your events as a list or a calendar, which day/week/month/year calendar view to use, which event locations to include, which colour keys to include, and how tall the widget should be.
- To Do: how tall the widget should be, which tasks to show (all, tasks you can complete, tasks assigned only to you, or view-only tasks you created), and how to filter the list by person or by group.
- Groups, Forms, Queues, Added People, Work Queues, Recent Form entries: each has its own short list of options, mostly around how many items to show and how to filter them.
If a widget has no configurable options, the pencil icon still opens a small panel but it will only contain the Save button.
Common questions
Does my dashboard look the same for everyone?
No. Each person on your infoodle site has their own dashboard. Moving or editing a widget only changes what you see when you log in. Other people can keep their widgets exactly where they like.
Why can't I edit or move my widgets?
Your administrator can lock the dashboard layout for a role so that everyone in that role sees the same default layout. When this is set, the pencil and X icons do not appear. If you would like to customise your dashboard, ask your administrator to enable dashboard editing for your role.
I have moved a widget by accident. How do I put it back?
Drag it back to where it was. infoodle saves every move straight away, so there is no separate undo, but you can drag a widget as many times as you like until the layout suits you.
Will my widget settings sync across devices?
Yes. Your widget settings and layout are saved to your infoodle account, so when you log in from a different computer or browser you see the same dashboard.
What if I want a widget I do not currently have?
Click Add Widgets at the top of the dashboard to open the widget picker and add another widget to your layout. See Adding a Widget for the full procedure.
Next steps
Once your widgets are where you want them and configured the way you like, you might want to remove ones you no longer use. See Removing a Widget.
