When you open a contact's profile page, you'll see their email address listed in their contact details. To the right of each email address is a spanner (wrench) icon. Clicking this icon opens the Email address checks window, which shows you the full email status for that address across four tabs.

Global Settings

This is the first tab shown by default. It displays the contact's overall (global) email subscription status — whether they are currently subscribed to, unsubscribed from, or paused from all infoodle emails.
From here an admin can:
- Change the global subscription status using the Change global subscription status dropdown
- Select one of the following options:
- Unsubscribe from all mailings — prevents all bulk emails from being sent to this address
- Cancel unsubscribe from all mailings — re-enables sending after a global unsubscribe
- Pause for 1 week / 2 weeks / 1 month — temporarily pauses all emails to this address
- Cancel Pause — removes an active pause (only appears when a pause is currently set)

- Click Save to apply the change
An alert triangle icon will appear next to the email address on the profile page when a global unsubscribe is active. If you've just made a change and the icon doesn't appear immediately, refresh the page.

Mail Types
This tab shows the contact's subscription status for each individual Mail Type configured in your system. Mail types allow contacts to opt in or out of specific categories of email (e.g. newsletters, event notices).
From here an admin can subscribe or unsubscribe the contact from individual mail types on their behalf.

Suppression List
This tab shows whether the email address has been externally suppressed — meaning something outside of infoodle has blocked sending to this address. This typically happens when:
- The address has hard bounced (the email address doesn't exist or is permanently rejected)
- The recipient used a spam button or list-unsubscribe option in their email client (e.g. Gmail's "Unsubscribe" button), rather than clicking an infoodle unsubscribe link
If the address is suppressed, you'll see:
- The date suppression started
- The reason for suppression
If you are confident the issue has been resolved, click Unblock to remove the suppression and allow emails to be sent again. If the next email sent to that address fails again, it will be blocked automatically once more.
A suppression list entry is not the same as an infoodle unsubscribe. The infoodle Unsubscribe report only captures contacts who clicked an infoodle unsubscribe link — suppressed addresses are tracked separately here and will not appear in that report.
Mailchimp (only visible if a Mailchimp API key is configured)
If your organisation has connected a Mailchimp account via Administration > System Setup, a fourth tab will appear showing the contact's status across each Mailchimp list infoodle knows about.
Possible statuses:
| Status | Meaning | Action available |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribed | The address is currently subscribed to this list | Click Unsubscribe to remove them |
| Unsubscribed | The address has been unsubscribed from this list | Click Subscribe to re-add them |
| Unknown / Pending | The address is new to Mailchimp, the status hasn't synced yet, or a confirmation email is pending | Click Resync to refresh the status |
Changing Mailchimp subscription status here does not affect the email address configuration in infoodle itself — the address remains active in infoodle regardless.
