Two Factor Authentication

Setting Up Two Factor Authentication

This is a method to enhance the security of your account. Just using a username and password is a weak way of protecting your data. Whilst we have put some protection methods in place to control attacks, their strength of this protection is down to the effectiveness of individual's password management.

Two Factor Authentication requires an additional code to be entered after your username and password. A new screen is presented which asks for a code. This code is obtained via an app on your phone - Google Authenticator, Authy, or an equivalent app.

Enabling Two Factor Authentication

To use this method you need to enable it on your account:

  1. Click your Profile Icon (at the top right of the screen) and click 'Account'.
  2. Click 'Sign up for Google 2 factor authentication'.
  3. You are presented with a QR code which you need to scan on your phone. Download the app from the app store, and once launched, click the + on the app and scan the phone. You are then presented with a code - enter this code into the box below the QR code on infoodle and click 'enable'.
  4. Next time you login, you will be prompted for the code. Launch the Google Authenticator again and you are presented with a code which you use.

Disabling Two Factor Authentication

To remove your own 2 factor authentication:

  2. Infoodle will prompt you for a code. Go to the Google Authenticator or equivalent app on your phone to get the code.
