The Finance Package is required to access the Finance features and associated Role Permissions.
A user may be given one or more of these permissions, depending on their role:

- Access to Finance area
- Manage, read, and report on transactions
- Manage pledges
- Edit giving numbers for people
- View others on API, profile, and reports only
- Manage finance configurations
- Read and report on transactions

What the Finance Permissions mean
Access Finance Area

What it does: Grants access to the user's own Financial information in the Finance section of their Profile page.
Who needs it: Users who need to view their own financial data.
Manage Finance Transactions

What it does: Allows users to add, edit, and reconcile individual transactions; process transactions in bulk; and manage recurring donations. Users with this permission can also view and report on other Finance information screens such as Account Codes and Stock Codes.
Prerequisites: None
Who needs it: Finance staff who work directly with transactions and reconciliation. This permission also automatically grants "Manage Pledges."

Limit Finance Admin to Just User's Own Groups (Restrictive)

What it does: Reduces the number of batches, account codes, and other Finance resources that the user can see and access. They will only be able to manage Finance data for groups where they are an Administrator.
Prerequisites: Requires "Manage Finance Transactions."
Who needs it: Finance staff who should only manage finances for specific groups within your organisation.
Manage pledges

What it does: Allows users to edit, delete, cancel, or move pledges. Users with "Manage Finance Transactions" automatically have this permission.
Prerequisites: None (but typically used with "Manage Finance Transactions").
Who needs it: Finance or fundraising staff who manage pledge records.

Edit giving numbers for people

What it does: Grants access to the Giving Numbers section under Finance and allows users to manage and edit Giving Numbers for contacts.
Prerequisites: Requires "Manage Finance Transactions."
Who needs it: Finance staff responsible for maintaining Giving Number records.

View others on profile and reports only

What it does: Grants visibility of financial information on a contact's Profile page and access to Financial Criteria on Reports. Useful for giving visibility to people in a group where the user is an Administrator, without granting broader Finance access.
Prerequisites: None.
Who needs it: Group Administrators or team members who need to see financial summaries but don't manage Finance directly.

Manage Finance Configurations

What it does: Allows users to add, edit, and delete Account Codes; manage Memberships; set up Xero schedules; and configure other Finance settings.
Prerequisites: Requires "Manage Finance Transactions."
Who needs it: Finance administrator or manager responsible for setting up and maintaining Finance configurations.
