When a person moves to a new address or changes their organisational affiliation, you can update their household membership directly from their profile. infoodle provides three ways to do this, each accessible from the Action menu alongside the person's address.
Before you begin
- You must have edit permission for the person's contact record.
- The destination household or organisation must already exist in infoodle before you can move or link someone to it.
Move to another household
Use this option when a person is leaving their current household and joining a different existing one. They will be removed from their current household and added as a member of the new one.
- Open the person's profile page.
- In the Household Details section, click Action alongside the address.
- Select Move to another household.

- In the Search for another household box, type the name of the destination household or organisation and select it from the results.
- If you want a copy of any notes to be carried across to the new household, tick Also take a copy of the notes.

- Click Move.
Note — notes are duplicated, not moved. When you tick "Also take a copy of the notes", existing notes are copied to the new household; they are not removed from the original. If the person was part of a large organisation with many shared notes, this can result in a large number of duplicates. Only tick this option if you specifically need the notes to follow the person.
Place in own household
Use this option to separate a person out of their current household and give them their own standalone household. This is useful when, for example, a child has grown up and moved out, or a contact was incorrectly grouped with others.
- Open the person's profile page.
- In the Household Details section, click Action alongside the address.
- Select Place in own household.
- A confirmation dialog will appear — click Yes to confirm.

The person is moved into their own new household immediately. Their original household is unaffected.
Add to additional household
Use this option when a person should remain in their current household and also appear as a member of a second household or organisation (for example, a staff member who is also a key contact at a partner organisation).
- Open the person's profile page.
- In the Household Details section, click Action alongside the address.
- Select Add to additional household.
- In the Search for another household box, type the name of the household or organisation and select it from the results.
- Click Add.

The person will now appear in both households. For more detail on how additional household links work, see One Person in Multiple Households/Organisations.
Tip: All of these options are also available from the settings cog (⚙) alongside the person's name at the top of their profile page — you don't need to scroll down to the address section.
