Deleting a group permanently removes it and all its history from infoodle. There is no undo.
Before you delete, consider whether you should expire or hibernate the group instead — both preserve the group's history and data while marking it inactive. See Hibernating or Expiring a Group for details.
What you need to know
- You must have Administrator permission on the group to delete it
- You cannot delete a group that has subgroups. You must first reassign or expire the subgroups. (See Groups and Nested Groups for how to move subgroups.)
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- All group history, membership records, custom fields, and attendance data are deleted along with the group
Steps to delete a group
- Go to Groups in the left navigation.
- Search for or select the group you want to delete.
- Click Edit (top right of the screen).

- Scroll to the bottom and click the Delete button.

- If you don't see the Delete button, you don't have Administrator permission on this group. Ask your organisation's admin.
- A confirmation dialog appears. Click Yes to confirm the deletion, or No to cancel.

The group is permanently deleted. You'll be returned to the Groups list.
Alternatives to deleting
If you want to preserve the group's history, member records, or attendance data, do not delete:
| If you want to... | Do this instead |
|---|---|
| Mark a group as no longer active, but keep its data | Expire the group or Hibernate the group |
| Remove a single person from a group | Remove them from the group (their membership history is preserved) |
| Change a person's status without removing them | Edit their group permission to "Past Member" (they retain all associated data) |
