When the payment is for a pledge but it is more than the remaining dates of the pledge would allow you may want to adjust the pledge itself. You can either do this in the pledge screen or use the 'Allocate to Adjusted Pledges' button to extend the pledge.
- Click Allocate to Adjusted Pledges. A box opens showing the Remainder to place and each of the donor's pledges.

- Find the pledge in the list.
- To add dates to the end of the pledge, click Extend by. The button says how many periods it adds, for example Extend by 1 period.
- Or, to increase one date, click Adjust a date, then click Raise to on the date you want to increase.
- Check the summary that appears under the pledge dates. It describes the change and ends with "made when you save", for example "Extend the pledge by 1 date to 2026-12-15 ($10.00) - made when you save".
- Check that Remaining shows $0.00.
- Click Save & Close.
The pledge does not change yet. infoodle keeps the change with the payment's other allocations and makes it when you reconcile the payout (Step 5). The payment can go wholly onto the change, with no other dates ticked.
- To take the change back off: click Remove beside the summary. The pledge stays as it was.
- If you never reconcile: the pledge stays as it was.
- When you reconcile: the person who clicks Reconcile also needs the Manage pledges role permission. If the change cannot be made, the whole payout is refused with a message starting "Allocation failed:", and the pledge is not changed.
Once the payout is reconciled, the change to the pledge stays, even if you later unreconcile the payout. To reverse it, change the pledge on the pledge screen, see Editing a pledge.
