What To, CC, and BCC do in infoodle email
When you compose an email in infoodle, you decide how each recipient sees the message. The To/BCC toggle at the top of the recipient list switches between two sending modes:
- To/BCC mode (default): infoodle sends a separate, personalised email to each recipient. Recipients do not see each other.
- CC mode: infoodle sends one single email copied to every recipient. Within this single email each recipient is marked as either CC (visible to everyone) or BCC (hidden from everyone).
There is only one switch. It is labelled To/BCC when off and CC when on, so the same control flips between the two modes.
Choose the mode that matches what you want recipients to see and whether the email needs to be personalised.

Role Permissions
- Contact people by email
For a full list of role permissions and what they mean, see People role permissions.
You will need at least one recipient added before you can choose CC or BCC for them. The CC mode is capped at 50 recipients across the whole email.

Add recipients in To/BCC mode
Use this mode for newsletters, bulk updates, and any email where merge tags should personalise the content. It is the default.
- Click or hover on Contact on the main menu bar on the left, then click Email.
- Click New email to open the composer.
- Leave the To/BCC toggle in its default off position.
- Click the Include the following dropdown to pick how you want to find recipients. The options are an individual, a group, a filtered group, and a saved report if you have any saved reports.

- Each option reveals its own picker. For example, choosing an individual shows a person search box, a group shows a group dropdown, a filtered group opens the filter builder, and a saved report lists your existing reports.
- Search for and select the people or group you want. Each recipient appears as a chip in the recipient list.
- Repeat steps 4 to 6 to add more recipients.

In this mode infoodle sends one email per recipient. Each recipient's email is private to them and merge tags such as {first_name} are filled in for each person.
Switch to CC mode
Use CC mode when you want a single email copied to everyone, for example an internal note where staff should see who else was on the email.
- Set up your recipients as above.
- Click the toggle (currently labelled To/BCC). Once it is on, the label changes to CC and each recipient chip gets a CC: prefix. The same switch covers both modes, so look for the one control, not a separate CC button.

- A warning appears explaining that this is a single non-personalised email, capped at 50 recipients.
- A second warning reminds you that CC addresses are visible to all recipients.
In CC mode merge tags are not filled in, because there is only one email body shared by everyone.
Change a recipient from CC to BCC
You can mix CC and BCC recipients in the same email. Use BCC for people whose address you want to keep private.
- With the To/BCC toggle on (showing CC), click the CC: label on the recipient chip you want to change.
- A small menu appears with CC: and BCC: options for an individual recipient chip.

- Click BCC:. The chip's prefix updates to BCC:.

You can switch the chip between CC and BCC at any time before sending. To set all recipients back to per-person sending, toggle CC off.
The per-chip menu shows different options depending on the chip. An individual recipient chip offers CC: and BCC:. A group, filtered group, or saved-report chip offers To: and CC: instead, because those chips represent a set of people rather than a single address.
Check who will receive the email
The Recipient List toggle expands a detailed list under the recipient chips. It shows the email addresses that will be used and lets you spot duplicates, missing addresses, or people you want to remove.
- Click the Recipient List toggle.
- Review the actual email addresses that will be used. In CC mode each row shows whether the person is being sent as CC or BCC.

The Remove duplicate emails checkbox stays ticked by default. This protects against sending the same address twice when the same person appears in more than one group or report.
Common questions
Can a BCC recipient see who else was on the email?
No. BCC recipients see only their own address. They do not see the CC list or other BCC addresses. Each BCC recipient still receives their own copy of the email, they just do not see one another.
Can a CC recipient tell that someone is on BCC?
No. There is no indicator in the sent email that BCC recipients exist. They are added invisibly, so no other recipient can see or guess who was BCC'd.
Will merge tags work in CC or BCC mode?
No. CC mode sends a single shared email, so merge tags such as {first_name} or {salutation} are not personalised. Use the default To/BCC mode when you need merge tags.
Is there a limit on how many people I can send to?
In CC mode the total recipients across CC and BCC are capped at 50 per email. In the default To/BCC mode there is no fixed cap, because each person receives their own email. This is the recommended choice for newsletters and bulk sends.
BCC recipients appear in my Sent copy. Is that normal?
Yes. Your own copy in Sent shows the BCC list because you sent it. Your recipients only see their own address.
Next steps
Once you have set your recipients and chosen the mode, write or design the email body, then click Send. infoodle uses the recipient list and the To/BCC or CC choice you made to deliver the email.
