Adding Label Formats

Prev Next

infoodle comes with several pre-configured label formats to match common label sheets (such as L7173 and LC24). If none of these match the labels you use, you can create your own.

Before you start

Permissions required

  • Update system information — for accessing Label Formats under Administration
  • Contact people by label — for generating labels

How to add label formats

  1. Click Administration in the top navigation bar.
  2. Click Label Formats from the tile grid.
  3. Click Add at the top of the formats list.
  4. Fill in all the fields (see the field reference below).
  5. Click Save.

Your new format will appear in the list.

Field What it controls
Label format name The name shown in the Format dropdown when generating labels. Required — the form won't save without it.
Paper size The size of the sheet you're printing on (e.g. A4, Letter, Legal).
Number of columns per page How many labels run across the sheet.
Number of rows per page How many rows of labels are on the sheet.
Size units The unit of measurement used by all size and margin fields below (mm, cm, or in).
Left margin on page Distance from the left edge of the paper to the first column of labels.
Top margin on page Distance from the top edge of the paper to the first row of labels.
Left margin to label Horizontal gap between adjacent labels in the same row (enter 0 if labels touch).
Top margin to label Vertical gap between adjacent label rows (enter 0 if labels touch).
Label width The width of a single label (in the units chosen above).
Label height The height of a single label (in the units chosen above).

Note: Use exact measurements from the label packaging — for example, if the height is 38.1 mm, enter 38.1, not 38 or 39. Even small rounding errors can shift every label on the sheet.

Check your measurements add up

As a sanity check, your measurements should fit within the paper size:

  • Left margin + (columns × label width) + ((columns − 1) × gap between columns) should not exceed the paper width.
  • Top margin + (rows × label height) + ((rows − 1) × gap between rows) should not exceed the paper height.

infoodle will let you save even if the totals exceed the paper size, but labels will be clipped or run off the page. Always print a test run onto plain paper first and hold it up against your label sheet to confirm alignment.
